Mountain bike tours
Vinschgau Valley and Meran with its surroundings has become much more than just an insider’s tip. Several of the Alpine crossings lead over the surrounding mountains into the valley, before heading towards Lake Garda. Bikers are welcomed by a Mediterranian flair. 315 sunny days a year speak for themselves. You can start trips as early as March or April with temperatures around 20°C, while 1,500 meters high there is still snow. This contrast between sun, apple blossoms, palm trees and snow-capped peaks lets every biker’s soul cheer at the start of the season. Bike tours are available until November. This is as good as it gets! All around Naturns there are many bike trails and trail descents which have been signposted within the last two years. A new bike map is available in our shop and at the tourist offices in Naturns, Rabland / Partschins and Kastelbell/ Tschars.
Racing bike tours
In Vinschgau Valley and Meran with its surroundings, some racing bike tours up the infamous mountain passes are almost obligatory. The highest mountain passes, Stilfserjoch, Timmelsjoch or Penserjoch reach well above 2,000 meters. For those whom this is not enough, the Dolomite passes are just an hour away. Of course, racing cyclists can also benefit from the mild climate. Already starting from February you can see racing cyclists on the Via Claudia Augusta road between the Reschensee lake and Lake Garda or on the southern slopes of the Vinschgau Sonnenberg mountain.
Cycling for pleasure, e-bike
For those who like to cycle for pleasure, Naturns is an ideal starting point because of the proximity to the Meran lowlands in one direction and the Reschenpass in the other direction. The Etschtalradweg (Etsch Valley cycling route) from Reschensee lake to Meran and Bozen, is considered one of the most beautiful cycling routes in the Alps. In the spa town of Meran, the Passeier Radweg bike path and the Etschtalradweg meet. From here, with day trips, practically all places of Meran with its surroundings are within easy reach through biking trails. The magical flower blossoms in the spring under the palm trees on the Meran promenade and the apple orchards in the valleys with the still snow-capped peaks in the background, is a must see for everyone.
It takes more than a vacation to even remotely discover this magnificent landscape of: the Vinschgau Valley, the surroundings of Naturns, the alluring Schnalstal and Martelltal Valleys; Meran with its surroundings, the Passeiertal Valley and the Etschtal Valley. Tour preferences are determined by the accommodations location.
